Job Description:

Program Background Summary:

The USAID-funded Pakistan Reading Project (PRP), implemented by the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and its partners (Creative Associates International, World Learning, and Institute of Rural Management), is a five-year project with the objective to support the provincial and regional departments of education (DoE) throughout Pakistan to improve reading skills of children in grades one and two. The project aims to achieve this goal through three distinct but interrelated components that work in synergy to affect the quality of early grade education: improved classroom learning environment for reading, improved policies and systems for reading, and community based support for reading in Pakistan.

Major Responsibilities:

§  Independently coordinate the collection of progress/impact information and write the monthly, quarterly and annual project reports due to USAID.  

§  Work with technical teams to research, identity, collect and capture key project success stories and represent the information in an attractive and engaging format for a wide- ranging audience. 

§  Draft, write and edit high quality written materials including content for project website, portals, newsletters and other communication products as and when required. 

§  Ensure that the content is both engaging and informative for the project’s target audiences. 

§  Create provincial/regional progress updates.

§  Develop project presentations.

§  Review and copy-edit project publications and documents.

§  Assist with compiling the project work plans.

§  As part of the communications team, assist with the conceptualization and development of scripts and storyboards for multimedia campaigns.

§  Develop content for multidimensional communication materials in print and other mediums for a variety of instructional, promotional and development activities.  

§  Maintain a record of project documents, such as work plans, reports, submissions, etc.

§  Periodically update the project dashboard to reflect progress.

§  Work with M&E and other component leads to ensure work plan narrative and matrix are updated.

§  Upload information, such as job advertisements, upcoming events, photo gallery on the project website.

Job Requirements: Education:

§  Minimum Garduation in Communications, Journalism, English or other related field from an accredited university.

Essential Knowledge and Experience Requirement: ­

§  At least 5 years of relevant Professional experience in Communication & reporting function in INGO or large international donor funded projects.

§   At least 2 years of experience of working for a USAID project in a similar capacity.

§  Must have hands on proven knowledge and experience of USAID’s branding & marking as well as reporting structures requirements.

Skills & Abilities:

§  Must be able to understand the program and coordinate with key stakeholders by using excellent negotiation skills.

§  Demonstrable writing and editing skills.

§  Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

§  Ability to work in a high pressure environment.

§  Should be able to independently prioritize tasks and meet short deadlines, including approvals process.

§  Excellent command of MS Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of design software will be an added advantage.

Ability to manage website using Content Management System such as Drupal
